The Riverside East Rotary Club has donated 55 trees that its members planted in Riverside on Saturday January 13 at 8:00 a.m. The location is at an open space on Dewey Avenue near Carlo Drive. The Rotary Club contacted Urban Forester Robert Filiar, who suggested the location and the type of tree. Riverside East Rotary purchased 55 Chinese Fringe trees.
“Rotary International President Ian Riseley has requested that a tree be planted this year for every Rotarian in the world,” said Kim Hicken, President of the Riverside East Rotary Club. “Riverside East is doing its part by planting 55 trees. We currently have 50 members and we are Riverside’s largest Rotary Club, but we plan to grow.”
The Riverside East Rotary meets every Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. at the Canyon Crest Country Club. The club was founded in 1987.
